TVs with a plasma screen emit high magnetic and electric fields that reach a 6ft radius around them. However, battery operated remote controls are quite safe.
What you can do:
Always sit at least 6ft from the screen – and remember that EMFs travel through walls. If you have a plasma screen TV in your bedroom, it should be at least 6ft from your pillows.
